President and Chief Executive Officer, Columbia St. Mary's, Milwaukee, Wis.

Leo P. Brideau is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia St. Mary’s, Milwaukee, and serves as the Wisconsin/Illinois Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health. He provides strategic and operational leadership for Columbia St. Mary’s while promoting alignment among Health Ministries within the Wisconsin market and with the System Office on issues related to Mission and Vision. In addition, Mr. Brideau shares accountability for strategic positioning and operational performance of the Health Ministries in the Wisconsin market.

Prior to joining Ascension Health, Mr. Brideau served as President of Strong Health Regional Network, Rochester, N.Y., and as General Director and Chief Executive Officer of Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester.

Mr. Brideau received a bachelor’s degree in international economics from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, and a master’s degree in health services administration from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He currently serves as a Board member of the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee. He serves as chair of the Wisconsin Hospital Association Task Force on Access and Coverage and as chair of the Milwaukee Healthcare Partnership. He was appointed by the governor of the State of New York to serve as a member of the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the Twenty-First Century. Mr. Brideau chaired the American Hospital Association Ad Hoc Committee on Payment for Health Services as well as the Wisconsin Hospital Association Task Force on Future Physician Work Force. He also has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA), serving on its Executive Committee and as a member of the AHA Commission on Workforce for Hospitals and Health Systems.
