Guardian

A surrogate appointed by the court to make decisions regarding an incompetent person’s care and custody. The court may set limits on the guardian’s authority, including the authority to make health care decisions. A Guardian is not to be confused with a court appointed conservator. (See also, Surrogate Decision-Making.)
