Legislative Priorities

Ascension Health supports public-private partnerships and collaborations that expand access to care and improve health outcomes. We have developed a policy agenda and strive to build effective relationships with federal legislators to influence policy change, securing national support that will sustain and strengthen the existing healthcare safety net of providers caring for the uninsured and underserved. The policy agenda also underscores the need to institute permanent, stable financing of health services for the uninsured and underinsured.

Because more than 50 percent of the nation's care for the poor and vulnerable is delivered by private healthcare providers, Ascension Health also focuses on building federal government understanding and support for the private healthcare providers' role in our nation's healthcare safety net.
